Have you ever listened to an older guy speak? Many of them have sayings plus expressions that are difficult for younger generations to understand, and my Grandparents I willsend you some of these plus I catch myself doing the same at times.
Most of these sayings have to do with real life things but are just funny to listen to. Take for instance “six or 1 half dozen, the other”, this is 1 that our Grandma used often. I never absolutely got it until I was older. It basically means that two people are saying the same thing, but in a odd way. Many of these things also apply to the weather, i am sure several of you have heard the 1s appreciate “ lazy,hazy mornings of summer” or “ animal mornings of summer”. Both of these basically refer to the fact that it is way too tepid or humid to do much of anything during the morning. I am sure back before the mornings of a/c these terms were used more frequently as people would relax during the heat of the morning plus work in the early morning or late evening; Back when farmers worked their fields they would absolutely not work during the midday sunlight for fear of getting sick… This week, modern farming equipment makes it much easier because several of the pressing tractors easily have air-conditioned cabs. Things have changed plus several of the sayings are no longer relevant but they are so fun to listen to from time to time, however every once in awhile I catch myself saying 1 of them plus our children just look at me appreciate I am crazy.
