Being inside of an old house can really freak me out.
I’ve been in lots of old houses.
I work on furnaces and boilers. Most of the houses in this area are at least 50 years old. Some of them have been erected since the 1800s. It is not unusual for the houses to have lots of weird and odd sounds and noises. A lot of people mistake the creaking of the floorboards and natural movement of the house as a problem with the furnace. Some people mistake these unusual sounds for ghosts. I went to a customer’s home to work on the gas furnace. While I was in the basement, I heard very strange and unusual noises. I turned around quickly and I swear that I saw a ghost. There was a looming shadow near the corner of the wall on the other side of the basement. I grabbed my flashlight from the bag beside me and I turned on the brightest light. I shined the flashlight all over the basement. I didn’t see anything at all but I was very spooked. After I saw the strange shadow, I went upstairs and out to my truck. I decided to smoke a cigarette and drink some water. I was more shaken up than I thought. I had to force myself to go back into that house and into the basement. As soon as I started walking towards the basement to fix the furnace, I got a weird and odd feeling in my stomach. It might not have been a ghost, but I sure felt like something weird was going on.
