I am painting my dad’s house and my stepmom is paying me well for it.
I am going to use the money to pay for my rental car and gas for the extra month I am staying here to negate the cost of the extra time I’ve decided to spend here.
I just need to find a little more work to cover the $800 one way ticket back overseas, which is double of what I paid for a round trip ticket, but the ticket was non changeable so I need to buy another ticket home. I can do some HVAC work at the local business as they do service calls and repair in the shop on window AC units and space heaters for their customers. I am good at repairing things because I was a mechanical engineer and also used to do a lot of repairs on engines and motors when I was younger. I no longer work in the HVAC company as an engineer but do like to work on HVAC technology when I have the chance because it actually is quite fun for me. My brother and I used to take our engines out of our cars, when we were younger, and rebuild them on the garage floor of our parent’s house to their dismay. This is where I got a lot of experience working on heat pumps and air conditioning for cars because we had older cars and there were always issues with the HVAC systems in older cars. They didn’t even have AC yet in my 1969 Firebird, ouch!
