I just didn’t realize how hot it is in the south when I planned our family vacation.
We went to the big rodent-based theme park down there and had a 5 day pass.
Let me tell you, it was hot, humid, and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the lines for the rides were well over an hour long. The first two days I toughed it out with the kids but was very grateful for the air conditioning in the little gift shops and restaurants spread throughout the park. I could feel the cool air from the buildings as I walked by. Sometimes I went into the shops and looked around just to cool off for a few minutes. At the end of every day, I was happy to get back to our hotel room and relax with the air conditioning we always left on there. By the third day, I had had enough and I left my husband with the kids while I relaxed in one of the many air conditioned restaurants in the theme park. Of course, I knew we would switch places on day four. I had to stand out in the heat with the kids once again. But on day five, I didn’t even leave the cool hotel room. I sent my husband out while I relaxed in the air conditioned room and read all day. It was wonderful. The kids never seemed to notice the heat and they had a blast. I am glad we took them on this trip but I wish I had scheduled it at a cooler time of the year.
