I work in a four-story office building; we rent the space, so we are not responsible for maintenance of the building.
I am glad, too, because sometimes maintaining a facility can be quite costly.
Also, it seems like no matter how much you do, the tenants are always complaining about something anyway. In fact, I have never even seen the guys who work for the commercial cleaning company, until the other day that is. One day last week, I had to come into the office on a Saturday, and I ran into the guy who does the floor stripping and waxing at our office building. Now that is a job I would never want to have. Floor stripping and waxing is really hard work. The guy I met on Saturday had the muscles to prove it, too. I will say he seemed very happy, though. I asked him if he likes working for a commercial cleaning company, and that is when I learned that he actually owns the cleaning company. He said he makes a good living, stays in pretty good shape, and doesn’t have to work chained to a desk. What’s not to like, right? I stayed and talked to him a while, and the guy who was stripping and waxing the floor almost made me want to turn in my resignation and go to work for him. Maybe if I was a bit younger, I would actually do it. I do know this: even if I think the floors don’t look all that great, I will not complain to the property manager. The commercial cleaning guy was so nice that I am willing to overlook some streaks on the floor.
