My dad likes to joke that if they had all of the money that they have blown on their electric furnace and old central air conditioning system over the years, they would probably have enough money to move into a new house and pay the whole thing off at once! Of course, that’s probably not true, but it does make my dad mad that they have been paying so much for their heating and cooling bills for so long
My mom and dad are planning on moving and they are looking for a more energy efficient home. The thing is, they have been living in their same house for about 30 years now and it’s going to be really hard to get everything moved out of there! That’s a whole lifetime of memories that we have to catalog and figure out what to do with. They are going to be downsizing, hopefully. But the main reason that they want to move is because they want a place that is much more energy efficient. They say that they have been paying way too much money for their heating and cooling bills for years now. He says that they probably should have installed a high efficiency heating and cooling system years ago, but they just didn’t think about it back then when they were in the middle of raising kids and all of the crazy teenage years. I hope that they find a new place that they love that will be super energy efficient! They might even end up getting radiant heated flooring!
