I went to stay with my sister in her new house up north last week.
She and my brother-in-law moved there last year.
The weather is really cooling off up there already, even though it’s still fall of the year. Well, I wasn’t thinking about her heating system at all, since that’s not something I would normally worry about. But one day, I noticed that even though the temperature outside was really kind of cold, the house felt warm and toasty. I looked all around and that’s when I saw that there were no heating vents in the house. There were no air vents in the ceiling, either. I thought that was so weird, because the house didn’t feel cold to me at all. Even though there was no forced heating in the house, the place felt nice and cozy. I asked my sister what kind of heating they were using in the new house and she said that when they moved in, the realtor had told them all about the heating system. It’s something called radiant heated flooring, and apparently it’s the greatest heating system ever. According to my sister, there are no cold spots or hot spots in the house at all. When you have a forced air heating system, you generally have a cold spot of two during the winter. This radiant heated flooring was amazing, though. I could walk around barefoot on the ceramic tile and the floors felt warm all over the house! After the visit to my sister’s house, all I can think about now is getting radiant heated flooring in my house too.
