When to throw away the air filter

I have been experimenting with washable air filters as of lately.

  • And I have to tell you that I am quite impressed by them.

I had heard so many bad things about washable air filters so I never wanted to try them. However when I found some on sale, I decided it wouldn’t hurt and that if they actually worked out for me, that I would not have to spend as much cash on buying air filters for a while. They were great! But the one thing I had to learn through trial and error was when to throw it away and change it out for a new one. This may be where a lot of people go wrong with washable air filters. They don’t know when to change them out. Washable air filters do not last forever. They last probably 4 to 5 months tops. This was my experience. The key to when to change the air filter when it comes to washable air filters is when you are washing them and notice they are flaking apart. This usually happens after the 4 month mark and sometimes 5, as I was saying above. But that’s ok! Because when you think about it you just saved yourself a lot of money in air filters when compared to the regular air filters on the market. Washable air filters actually make my central heating and air conditioning system run smoother too. That is the honest truth of the matter. It cools and heats my home a lot easier and the air flow even seems better since I been using washable air filters.
