The basement flooded- I suppose we need to buy a up-to-date heat pump now

Spring is always the time of the year when this region experiences the most rainfall… Occasionally it rains for days & days in a row, then it can become legitimately annoyed, when everything outside is dark, gray, gloomy, & wet.

I’ve never experienced any trouble with flooding until this Spring, and my home is on a hill, but there is a stream at the bottom of the hill; There was so much rain that my basement was flooded with several feet of water. I couldn’t do anything to help the problem & I couldn’t stop the flooding. I never had any flooding water concerns before, so I didn’t even have a sump pump; When the rain finally subsided, I had to call someone to help. I ended up filing a claim for my homeowner’s insurance. They had to replace all of the basement flooring & some of the walls, and both of us had several giant dehumidifiers set up in the basement for a week. They were loud & obnoxious, but they removed all of the smells & moisture. The insurance company also paid to replace the heat pump. The heat pump is in the basement & more than half of it was under water. Thank goodness we didn’t have to use the heat pump during the rainy weather. The insurance company paid for all of the items, & we have a up-to-date heat pump & a brand up-to-date basement now. I hope we never experience another major disaster care about this. Both of us had to deal with several unusual companys. It took weeks to service everything & the hassle & headaches were tremendous.
