The side of the office building that I work at is always uncomfortable.
- Apparently the temperature control in this office doesn’t work right because my side of the building doesn’t seem to get any air conditioning or heating.
Management works on the comfortable side of the building and they keep the thermostat set at a temperature that is comfortable for them. Us subordinates have to suffer without adequate heating or air conditioning. Our side of the building does have heating and air conditioning vents, but the air never seems to get to us for some reason. In the summer we dress down in the lightest clothing allowable. In the winter we use blankets and portable heaters just try and stay comfortable. The portable heaters blow the fuses though and the managers keep getting mad at us for using them. I guess six times in one week was the final straw because management finally decided to call out an HVAC repair company to come and look at the issue. The HVAC technician found out that the ductwork is completely blocked off leading to our side of the building. It is full of dust, debris and even old paperwork dating back to the 20th century. Apparently somebody thought the ductwork was a garbage can. Anyhow, once the ducts were all cleaned out, the entire office building started feeling much more comfortable. I feel like I might actually not freeze to death while doing my job now. Nonetheless, it’s pretty nasty that the ductwork hadn’t been cleaned out and at least 30 years. You would think that something an office manager would make sure was taken care of at least every few years. But then again, nothing surprises me at this job anymore.
