When you live alone in your late thirties, you can do quite a few things.
For years I used to consult my husband on every little thing I changed in the house.
He was always particular about anything I wanted to do. I couldn’t tear down a wall, I couldn’t paint, and I was not allowed to buy anything new. Now that I live alone, I can totally remodel my house and nobody can say anything. One thing I have always wanted was heated flooring. I am going to get this heating system for the first time. The house I bought has floors that are in good shape. Due to this, I shouldn’t rip them out to make way for the heating installation. I don’t care anymore. I know it doesn’t make sense. I should get a boring furnace or fireplace like I always do. I have the money and I wanted radiant heating. The floors in every room of the house are going to be ripped out. Next I want to have a boiler installed in my basement and attach piping to it. The pipes then will be installed within the new tile that gets laid on top of my boards. After all that is done, the boiler will heat water that flows through the piping to create hydronic heating. The heat isn’t polluted with dirty air quality and doesn’t rise to the ceilings. Due to this, the heater is more effective and feels warmer. There are no cold spots and I can turn the thermostat down lower. I will save money in the end.
